What is a Tropical Look Anyway? Tropical landscapes are by their very nature very informal. To create your Backyard Resort, your backyard landscape will capture the wild and untamed mood of a natural tropical landscape. This mood can’t be captured with the boring, straight-line plantings of overly manicured shrubs that are so common in residential landscapes. The tropically-inspired garden will be much more casual, with seemingly randomized patterns of trees, shrubs, and foliage.
A backyard habitat is usually a home to many different kinds of wildlife. Some backyards wake up in the summer with butterflies, bees, wild flowers, insects, and bugs of all kinds. Some people design their backyard so that it can be a safe place for some animals during the more intense winter season. One of the main reasons why backyard habitats are growing in popularity is the fact that natural wildlife continue to diminish; and in some locations, this is occurring at an alarming rate due to industrial developments and residential communities.
Here’s a great tip. Go to your favorite garden center’s houseplant section. Of course, there is really no such thing as a houseplant. All plants want to be outside and will perform their best outside. Many of the so-called houseplants are really understory tropicals that will perform beautifully on a covered patio or deck where they have protection from direct sun. Experiment with some of these plants and you are sure to be amazed at the results.
Since then, my backyard landscape designs have changed, but my passion for it has not. Nowadays, I am into backyard gardening above all. I love to read, to write, and to enjoy the outdoors. Backyard landscape design allows me to create a space where I can do all three. I have downloaded some backyard landscaping software that helps me to plan out the spacing of the various components of my backyard garden. Although I do not have very much space, if I use it cleverly it is enough to create several secluded spots to enjoy my books.
Due to unpredictable weather, it would also be wise to install a party tent. This is to avoid having your guests drenched in rain just in case there is a sudden downpour. But if your backyard has a patio or a covered deck, then the party tent will not be necessary. Backyard parties are usually done late in the afternoon. Due to this, you might want to add some lighting to your backyard. You want your guests or visitors to be comfortable while eating.
